HANDICAP TOURNAMENT RULES

 

1. This Tournament is sanctioned thru USBC. All paid USBC 2025-2026 adult members are eligible to bowl. No USBC member cards can be purchased on site.

 

2. The tournament will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 1pm at Crofton Bowling Centre, 2115 Priest Bridge Dr, Crofton, MD 21114. Check in 12:00pm. All entries will be processed on a first come first serve basis. Entry deadline is September 15, 2025. Cost of the tournament will be $25 per person or $50 per team. The prize ratio for each event will be one prize for 10 entries. Lineage and expenses =$17.00 ($12 Lineage and $5.00 Breast cancer fund, prize money = $8.00 per bowler. All Prize Monies will be returned 100%. Checks, Cash and Zelle payments are accepted. For Zelle payments, use (sbclbcf@yahoo.com). Make checks payable to SBCL with BCF on memo line. Entry fee is nonrefundable.

 

3. This is a doubles (dbls) tournament. Teams may consist of any combination of dbls (2 women, 2 men or 1 woman /1 man). Bowlers will bowl 3 games on the same pair of lanes. Once a substitute has started competition, the original entrant may not replace the substitute for that event.

 

4. The handicap will be 90% of the difference between the bowler’s entering average (avg) and 230. Bowlers will use their highest (1) USBC 2024-2025 winter Bk avg for 21+ games as posted on Bowl.com. If there is no USBC 2024-2025 winter Bk avg, bowlers may use their highest (2) current USBC 2025-2026 avg for 21+ games. If bowler has neither avg from (1) last season or (2) current season, bowlers may use their highest (3) USBC 2024-2025 summer avg for 21+ games as of Aug 31, 2025. All others will bowl with a scratch 230 avg. ALL AVERAGES MUST BE VERIFIED. Association avg books or league standing sheets will be accepted. The 10-pin rule is NOT in effect. USBC Rule 328 will also apply, a bowler must use the same hand to deliver the ball throughout the tournament. 5. It is the bowler’s responsibility to verify the accuracy of their own avg no matter who may submit it. Failure to use the correct avg shall disqualify the score if the submitted avg is lower than the correct avg. Average corrections should be made prior to the completion of the 1st game bowled. If a higher avg is used, the prize winnings will be based on the higher avg. There shall be no return of entry fees when disqualified. 6. In the event of a tie for first place, the winning bowlers shall split first and second place prize monies. 7. Employees and staff of Crofton Bowling Centre and SBCLBCF Tournament are eligible to bowl in this tournament. The Tournament committee will make all decisions and reserves the right to refuse or reject any entry. Tournament manager decisions are final unless an appeal is made in accordance with Rule 329.
